"When artists innovate, it usually involves either using traditional materials in original ways or using original materials in traditional ways.

Real iconoclasts, like Picasso, did both. He was one of the inventors of cubism in oil paint and also created the first collages with the nearly heretical act of pasting newspaper scraps onto his canvases." - Los Angeles Times art critic, Bobbie Allen

Nathan Fischer spent his childhood at his father’s art foundry, the Monterey Sculpture Center, where he learned the process of casting bronze sculpture for world renowned artists and sculptors. Working with his father and other artists motivated an awareness of art and a personal interest in design and creativity. Fischer then focused his interest in the creative process toward his University studies in Interior Design, later receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design with an emphasis in art history, including additional studies in Photography, and Graphic Design. Nathan has practiced Interior and Architectural Design in Utah, Monterey, San Francisco, and Laguna Beach, CA.

-"The beauty of the coastline, the transition of the water, land and sky, and the interaction of light with these elements, are captured in his work. “I try to mimic the colors of these settings. By inverting and rearranging them, or adding a simple geometric detail, I create a familiar but abstract scene.” Color and composition are the focus of his work. “I am compelled to create something natural and soothing. At the same time my work inherits an industrial feel. I work with metal... that is what I did with my father; it is what I know and what I am familiar with. My work is done on bronze panels, not canvas. There is welding, hammering and grinding. To achieve the desired colors fire and various chemicals are used. I feel my work fuses the industrial with the natural."
